Lawyer Overview

Chiang Ling has been practicing China intellectual property and pharmaceutical law since 1994 focusing on portfolio management, enforcement and litigation, and licensing, franchising, distribution, advertising, sponsorship, and transaction support. Throughout the last 14 years, Chiang Ling has worked closely with intellectual property and pharmaceutical industry organizations and played an active role in lobbying for legal and regulatory reforms of various intellectual property and pharmaceutical laws and regulations (including the latest amendment to the Chinese Trademark Law and the Trademark Examination Guidelines). Prior to joining Jones Day in January 2008, Chiang Ling was a partner in the intellectual property department at Baker & McKenzie where she worked since 1994.

Chiang Ling is author of the book China Executive Report: Intellectual Property; the anticounterfeiting and enforcement chapter in the book China's Participation in the WTO; the China chapters in the books PLC Cross-border Life Sciences 2007/08, Trade Secrets Throughout the World Treatise, Patents Throughout the World, and Designs and Utility Models Throughout the World; as well as many articles on intellectual property and pharmaceutical law. She also frequently speaks at conferences on such topics.

Chiang Ling has been appointed an arbitrator by four prestigious arbitration bodies: the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Center, the Asia Domain Name Dispute Resolution Center, and the World Intellectual Property Organization Arbitration and Mediation Center. She is also a member of the China Trademark Office Practice Subcommittee of the International Trademark Association. Chiang Ling is a recommended lawyer by the PLC in the areas of intellectual property and China corporate and commercial law. She is also nominated as one of the world's leading practitioners of life sciences in The International Who's Who of Life Sciences Lawyers 2008.
