His practice includes preparation, prosecution, and reexamination of patents dealing with technologies such as small molecule pharmaceuticals, peptide and polypeptide pharmaceuticals, nucleic acid diagnostics, biochemistry, molecular biology, and immunology.
While attending law school, Josh worked as a faculty research assistant and authored an article discussing patent issues in biotechnology, "Fisher of Genes: Patentability of Expressed Sequence Tags," 29 Hastings Comm. & Ent. L. J. 401 (2007). He was also a judicial extern for the Honorable Ronald M. Whyte in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
Prior to law school, Josh was a research scientist investigating various issues in molecular biology, biochemistry, and immunology at Washington University in St. Louis, The University of Chicago, and the University of Southern California. His Ph.D. thesis focused on the role of androgen receptor signaling and chromatin remodeling in transcription activation of androgen responsive genes in the context of prostate cancer.
