Lawyer Overview

Fang Yao has experience in mergers & acquisitions, corporate finance, private equity, and dispute resolution in China. Fang has handled acquisition transactions for one of the world's largest retail giants and one of the world's largest cosmetic groups in China. She also has represented one of the largest state-owned construction enterprises in a landmark A+H listing case along with a hedge fund on its financing in the natural resources industry.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Fang worked in two top-tier international law firms where she specialized in foreign direct investment (FDI) and dispute resolution for major multinational companies. In addition, Fang worked as an intern at the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, at one of the largest securities companies in China, and at a local law firm in Shanghai.

Fang translated and published "Choice of Law in Franchise Agreements" in the International Commercial Law Review (published by Law Press in 2005). She is fluent in Chinese and English.
