Prior to the formation of Malia & Rinehart, Kevin worked as an assistant public defender in Lake County, Illinois. Kevin employs a principled and passionate approach to defending the rights of his clients. He has successfully represented clients in matters ranging from simple traffic tickets to the most serious of felonies.

Kevin is licensed to practice in Illinois and Wisconsin, as well as the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois and the Western District of Wisconsin. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Lake County Bar Association.

Kevin earned his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2003, where he gained valuable experience working as a student intern with the Wisconsin Innocence Project and in the Trial Division of the Wisconsin State Public Defender's Office in Milwaukee. Kevin received his undergraduate degree in sociology and history from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2000.
