Lawyer Overview

David Cerdán's practice focuses on commercial litigation and arbitration in the construction, real estate, and engineering industries as well as on company purchase agreements and breach of contracts.

Before joining Jones Day, David was a member of the litigation team at one of the leading Spanish law firms where he represented Spanish and international clients before Spanish civil and commercial courts and before arbitration panels. Prior to entering the commercial litigation field, he practiced tax law, focusing on tax litigation.

Examples of some of the significant cases David has worked on include advising state-owned company Babcock Wilcox Española in an international arbitration with Alstom, held in Germany, in connection with the construction of a power plant in Greece. He was one of the legal advisors to Asón Inmobiliaria in the civil liabilities litigation arising from the fire that caused the collapse of the Windsor tower in Madrid. He also advised the French building company Eiffage, under Spanish law, in its conflict with some of its shareholders led by Sacyr-Vallehermoso.

David has been a member of the Madrid Bar Association since 1994. He has published several articles on legal issues in business newspapers such as Expansión and La Gaceta de los Negocios and has been a speaker in legal seminars organized by IIR Spain as well as in legal training forums to private bankers such as ALTAE and BANIF.
