Prior to forming The Cohen Law Firm, P.C. (www.cohenadvisors.net) in 2003, Mr. Cohen spent five years with the national public accounting firm of Deloitte & Touche. Mr. Cohen was a tax manager and spent time in their Detroit, Michigan; Denver, Colorado; and San Francisco, California offices. He also spent two years at a tax boutique accounting firm based in Denver, Colorado which specialized in providing tax and accounting services to closely held businesses.

Mr. Cohen's practice areas include the following:

Estate Planning - Drafting of estate documents including wills, trusts, family partnerships, financial, medical power of attorneys, and living wills; implementation of estate plan, including charitable giving and annual family gift giving.

Business Formation and Succession Planning - Assistance with choice of entity and entity selection; drafting of business documents including corporate and partnership operating agreements and buy/sell agreements; financial due diligence and legal assistance with sale and/or purchase of a business.

Tax Compliance and Tax Planning Services - Preparation of individual and business federal and state income tax returns and preparation of quarterly estimates; preparation of trust, gift tax, and estate tax returns; tax planning to minimize federal and state income taxes and gift and estate taxes.

Tax Controversy - Representation of clients before taxing authorities such as the Internal Revenue Service, Colorado Department of Revenue, and Colorado Department of Labor. 

Non-Profits and Trade Associations     

Bookkeeping Services - Assistance with bookkeeping, including initial set up of bookkeeping such as Quicken, QuickBooks or Microsoft Money; monthly/quarterly review of bookkeeping.

Mr. Cohen also serves on the Board of Directors and is the Treasurer for The Community Table which is a Boulder based non-profit organization. Mr. Cohen is a licensed attorney in the states of Colorado and Michigan. He is also a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of Colorado. In addition, he is a licensed Registered Investment Advisor and he has passed the S.E.C. Series 63 and 65 examination.  He is also admitted to practice law before the U.S. Tax Court.
