(NASD); and other self-regulatory organizations (SROs).

He is knowledgeable about and has guided clients in the areas of compliance policies and procedures, fairness opinions, referral agreements, Regulation D as it relates to marketing a new product, as well as regulatory enforcement. Due to the interwoven compliance issues related to broker-dealers and other financial professionals, Augustine has also assisted clients regarding employment issues.

In addition to his securities litigation experience, Augustine has been involved in securities class action, land use litigation and litigation resulting from the dissolution of a limited partnership (a breach of fiduciary duty matter).

Augustine has a wealth of financial and business experience from his years before becoming an attorney. As a former financial analyst for Fidelity Investments, he analyzed financial information to forecast business, industry and economic conditions for making investment recommendations to portfolio managers. Augustine is also a former business owner, having owned several businesses, including a corporation that focused on restructuring light industrial businesses. While serving as executive director of the Korean American Dry Cleaners Association, Augustine was a council member for the Illinois Dry Cleaner Environmental Response Trust from 2002 to 2005.

Augustine is admitted to practice law in Minnesota in state and federal courts. He is a member of the Minnesota Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) and the Hennepin County Bar Association. He has collaborated with senior Briggs attorneys in writing a number of articles about securities compliance.

Born in Seoul, Korea, Augustine received a B.A. cum laude in economics from Carleton College. He received his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School. Augustine first joined Briggs as a clerk in 2004, before becoming an associate in 2006.
