Dr. Simone Schmueser practices in the area of intellectual property and unfair competition, as well as commercial litigation and arbitration proceedings.
Simone advises clients in various areas of IP law, particularly on aspects of trademark law, copyrights, domain rights, passing off, and branding issues. Her practice involves contract drafting and enforcement of IP rights in addition to registering national, European, and international trademarks. She has conducted trademark opposition proceedings before the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA) and the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM). Her experience also includes supporting corporate and M&A transactions with regard to IP rights.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Simone was an associate at a law office in Hamburg, Germany, where her practice focused on German and international commercial and corporate law.
Simone is a member of the German Association for the Protection of Industrial Property and Copyright (Deutsche Vereinigung für gewerblichen Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht e.V. (GRUR)) and the German-American Lawyers' Association (Deutsch-Amerikanische-Juristen-Vereinigung e.V. (DAJV)).
