Ms. Wijewardena Bloom’s practice includes litigation in both state and federal court, focusing on general commercial litigation. Ms. Wijewardena Bloom has represented a variety of clients, including clients in the consumer products, financial services, medical device, pharmaceutical, and technology industries. Ms. Wijewardena Bloom also maintains an active pro bono practice, representing clients in immigration and unemployment compensation matters. Ms. Wijewardena Bloom is a member of the WilmerHale team representing six Bosnian-Algerian men wrongfully detained at Guantanamo Bay; Ms. Wijewardena Bloom was a member of the trial team that achieved the first-ever Guantanamo habeas corpus victory, and she also participated in the successful negotiation of release to France of two of the detainees. Recently, Ms. Wijewardena Bloom successfully represented a multi-state retailer against a data privacy suit that was dismissed by the Massachusetts Superior Court; the decision was upheld on appeal by the Massachusetts Appeals Court and the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts.

While in law school, Ms. Wijewardena Bloom interned with Cambridge & Somerville Legal Services, where she prepared cases for housing and disability hearings, negotiated on clients’ behalf with opposing counsel, administrative agencies and medical providers, and successfully represented a client before an Administrative Law judge. Ms. Wijewardena Bloom also participated in Boston University School of Law’s Legislative Drafting Clinic and represented the School of Law at the National Moot Court competition. Prior to law school, Ms. Wijewardena Bloom worked as a career advocate in Boston with Transition to Work Collaborative, a program that provides career planning and job placement for a network of homeless shelters.
