Lawyer Overview

Kelvin M. Lawrence represents individual, business and nonprofit clients in a variety of tax and transactional matters. His practice is principally focused on state and local tax counseling and controversies involving real property, corporate franchise, sales and use, personal income and commercial activity taxes. He has also provided substantial assistance to clients with matters involving federal income tax planning, unclaimed property, employee benefits, mergers, acquisitions and corporate governance.

While in law school, Mr. Lawrence counseled nonprofit clients on state and federal taxation issues through the University of Michigan Urban Communities Clinic and worked as a Contributing Editor on the Michigan Journal of Law Reform. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Lawrence was employed at a nonprofit organization where he researched democracy, leadership and civic participation.

Mr. Lawrence is a member of the American, Ohio State, Columbus and John Mercer Langston Bar Associations and the Capitol Square Rotary Club.
