Lawyer Overview

Katherine P. Califa is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP and a member of the firm's Trademark, Copyright & Advertising Practice. Her practice focuses on counseling clients on the selection, clearance, prosecution, registration, and enforcement of trademarks in the United States and abroad, as well as advising clients regarding Internet and domain name, copyright, trade dress, and right of publicity/right of privacy matters. She also has experience drafting and negotiating consent, coexistence and other settlement agreements in intellectual property related disputes, representing clients before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and providing intellectual property counseling on business transactions, including due diligence.

Prior to joining Foley, Ms. Califa served as a law clerk for the Honorable Deborah K. Chasanow at the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.

Ms. Califa earned her J.D. from Stanford Law School and her B.A., cum laude, from Wellesley College.

Ms. Califa is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the United States District of Maryland. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the International Trademark Association, the Hispanic National Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
