Bruno Castellini advises Italian corporations and foreign investors, including private equity houses, with their acquisitions, investments, and dispositions in Italy and abroad in diverse areas of business, including the financial services and energy sectors. He also has a great deal of experience in capital market transactions, advising offerors and underwriters in IPOs, issues and placement of securities, recapitalization transactions, and public takeovers. He is head of the M&A practice in the Milan Office.
Recent representative M&A transactions include: the sale by the Italian government of its controlling stake in Alitalia, the national airline; the merger between Istituto Bancario San Paolo and Banca Intesa, leading to the creation of Intesa SanPaolo, the largest Italian bank; the acquisition by Al-Rajhi Holdings of a portfolio of Enel industrial and commercial properties; the sale of Moleskine, the high-end market stationery brand by its founding shareholders; the acquisition by Unicredit Group of Hypo-Verein Bank, the German-Austrian banking group; and the reorganization of Le Meridien Group.
