Anthony C. Kuhlmann is an associate with Foley, where he is a member of the Chemical & Pharmaceutical Practice.

Dr. Kuhlmann is a registered patent attorney concentrating his practice in the area of intellectual property concerning life sciences, with particular experience in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. His practice includes all aspects of patent prosecution and intellectual property counseling.

Dr. Kuhlmann has an in-depth understanding of drug development and research, as well as toxicology matters within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Dr. Kuhlmann uses this unique skill set to advise in-house counsel and company executives on the development of worldwide patent portfolios and the integration of intellectual property and business assets.

Prior to joining Foley, Dr. Kuhlmann was a patent attorney and a patent agent at two prominent Boston-area law firms.

Dr. Kuhlmann received his law degree from Suffolk University Law School (J.D., cum laude, 2004). He received his Ph.D. from John Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his B.Sc. in biomedical toxicology, with highest honors, from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada in 1993.

Dr. Kuhlmann has co-authored numerous scientific publications in the fields of neurotoxiciology and neuropathology. His publications appear in journals including Journal of Neurochemistry, Neuroscience Letters, Brain Research, and Toxicological Sciences.

Prior to law school, Dr. Kuhlmann was an investigator for Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where he established an animal model of Parkinson's disease for efficacy and toxicity studies.

He is admitted to practice in California, Massachusetts, and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
