Leanne Zheng handles complex civil and commercial litigation and arbitration in China, the United States, and worldwide. Before joining Jones Day in 2006, she served in a Beijing court for nine years, hearing more than 550 civil and commercial cases as a third-level judge and 800 cases as a clerk in a number of different areas. As lead counsel and team leader, Leanne also has represented Chinese and international clients and successfully handled complex disputes inside and outside of China.
Leanne's experience covers a wide variety of complex disputes, including real estate, construction, intellectual property, contracts and other commercial matters, and white-collar criminal defense. Leanne's recent representative matters include representing Nokia in defense of several patent infringement lawsuits against Qualcomm, representing a worldwide industrial services company in criminal and civil proceedings regarding trade secret protection, representing a Spanish company in litigation regarding an international trade contract, representing a Taiwanese semiconductor company in litigation over tortious interference of business relationships in China and the U.S., and representing a leading American construction company in construction arbitration.
Leanne's court background includes shepherding 12 research projects and producing more than 20 academic articles and more than 30 case analyses and judge's opinions. She has been invited as a senior contributor to a number of leading publications, including Reference and Guide to Civil Trial, China Daily, Legal Daily, and People's Court Daily. More than 10 of her published articles have won national awards.
Leanne is a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences held in the U.S., the U.K., and China.
