Lawyer Overview

Sylvia's practice is concentrated on offshore oil legal matters in China. Prior to joining Jones Day she worked for several years as an in-house counsel for the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) where she had substantial involvement in several major corporate restructures, such as the listing of CNOOC overseas, and the listing of China Offshore Oil Engineering Corporation at the Shanghai Stock Exchange. She also handled general corporate matters on a routine basis that included advising on petroleum contract interpretation and performance issues, corporate acquisition, bidding, and the compliance of PRC law and regulations. In addition, she participated in the discussion and the drafting of the revised paper "Regulations on the Exploitation of Offshore Oil Resources in Cooperation with Foreign Enterprises."

Sylvia has passed the China and California bar exams.
