Lawyer Overview
Dr. Tamera Weisser's practice includes client counseling as well as foreign and domestic patent portfolio development, management, and enforcement in all areas of biotechnology. Representative technologies include immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, genetics, cell biology, gene therapy, and medical devices. Tamera has particularly extensive experience in the field of antibody technology and has represented clients such as MedImmune, MacroGenics, and Kirin Pharma in developing their antibody portfolios. Tamera also prepares patent validity, noninfringement, freedom-to-operate, and due diligence opinions for corporate clients as well as venture capital firms.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2004, Tamera spent five years as a patent agent at a large Washington, D.C. law firm. In addition, she was formerly a research scientist at Agracetus, Inc. (currently Powderject Vaccines, Inc.) in Madison, Wisconsin and the Emory University Vaccine Research Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Tamera is a member in the American Bar Association, the San Diego County Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the San Diego chapter of the Association for Women in Science.
