Lawyer Overview

Veronica Ascarrunz is an associate with Foley & Lardner LLP, where she is a member of the Intellectual Property Litigation and Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Practices.

Prior to joining Foley, Ms. Ascarrunz was an associate for another firm, where she focused on patent infringement litigation in district court and before the International Trade Commission (ITC).

Ms. Ascarrunz was also an intern for the Honorable Paul Luckern at the United States ITC. She focused on assisting the judge with investigations of unfair trade practices, specifically patent and trademark infringement. Ms. Ascarrunz drafted and reviewed initial determinations and orders, assisted the judge with all aspects of investigations and at hearings, and communicated with counsel regarding case management and procedural requirements. She was also an intern for the Honorable Richard Linn at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Ms. Ascarrunz is a graduate of Georgetown University (B.S., biology, 2000), where she had a double concentration in neuroscience and biochemistry, molecular & cellular biology. She was a Howard Hughes Research Scholar in the Pharmacology Department of the Georgetown University Medical Center. She is also a graduate of the George Mason University School of Law (J.D., cum laude, 2003). While at George Mason University School of Law, she was an associate editor for the Civil Rights Law Journal.

Ms. Ascarrunz is admitted to the Virginia State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, the Eastern District of Virginia, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is also a member of the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the ITC Trial Lawyers Association and the Giles Sutherland Rich Inn of Court.
