Nick Pisano focuses his practice on intellectual property law and technology. His experience includes litigating patent, trademark, and trade secret matters in federal district courts throughout the United States and in interference proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Nick has extensive experience representing medical device, software, and computer peripheral companies in patent procurement, counseling, and portfolio management matters. Nick also has represented numerous corporate and venture capital clients in investment due diligence and acquisition activities. Medical device clients represented by Nick have been acquired by for a total of more than $4 billion, including Arterial Vascular Engineering, Embolic Protection, Arteria Medical, Neovision Corp., EndoTex Interventional Technologies, EndoArt, X-Cardia, Jomed N.V., and others.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Nick was chairman of the IP subgroup at Luce, Forward, Hamilton and Scripps, LLP, from 2003 to 2007 and prior to that was an associate and then partner in Fish & Neave's Palo Alto, California and New York City offices. Prior to practicing law, Nick worked in the nuclear industry, designing nuclear fuel and simulation programs first at General Electric Company in San Jose, California and then at Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. Nick is a registered professional engineer in California.
