Lawyer Overview
Linton Bloomberg's practice centers on noncontentious insolvency matters and domestic and international restructurings. He regularly works for distressed corporates, financial institutions, insolvency practitioners, and accountants in the corporate recovery field. His practice includes formal insolvency procedures as well as out-of-court restructurings.
Linton's recent representations include: a senior noteholder (c.$500 million) in the Sigma SIV (structured investment vehicle), including overturning a Court of Appeal decision in the House of Lords (the first ever U.K. Supreme Court judgment); the board of directors and administrators of XL Airways Group; Zolfo Cooper as administrators of Birthdays Limited, which operated a 300-store greeting card retail chain; one of the largest creditors with respect to the CVAs (company voluntary agreements) of JJB Sports, Focus DIY and Blacks Leisure; the board of directors of the U.K. subsidiaries of Dana Corporation in their pension restructuring; Honda Motor Company in relation to the administration of Super Aguri Formula 1 racing team and the subsequent MBO (management buyout) of Honda GP to Brawn GP; an Irish UKLA-listed company with assets in multiple jurisdictions; and one of the largest creditors with respect to the insolvencies of various European Nortel Group companies. Prior to joining Jones Day, Linton advised the administrators of MG Rover.
Linton has lectured and written articles on restructuring topics and also has completed a secondment with the specialised lending services team (SLS) at The Royal Bank of Scotland. Linton is a member of the Education, Courses and Conferences Committee of R3 and a course director for the debt restructuring and introduction to insolvency courses.
