James has experience in advising on a wide range of matters across Asia and Europe, including private equity investments and exits, cross-border private M&A, public takeovers, joint ventures, outsourcings, reorganisations, restructurings, and initial public offerings. James previously trained and practised in London before moving to Singapore at the beginning of 2005.

James has represented clients on transactions involving various industry sectors, including advertising/marketing, automotive, biopharm, information technology and systems, insurance, private security, real estate, telecommunications, and utilities. Some of his recent experience includes representing a leading international hotel chain on the set up of an Indian joint venture, one of the world's largest insurance groups on the sale of its Asian general insurance business to a Japanese purchaser, a U.S. client on private equity investments and exits in India, and an international car parts manufacturing group on Chinese joint ventures. James has also acted on a number of high-profile take private transactions in London, including the takeovers of Manchester United plc and Countryside Properties plc.
