Lawyer Overview
Dave is currently involved in representing property owners from across country in Tucker Act litigation against the federal government in hundreds of cases stemming from Franconia Assoc. v. United States, 536 U.S. 129 (2002) and Chancellor Manor v. United States, 67 Fed. Cl. 434 (2005) decisions. Dave also has litigated a wide variety government contract cases, including bid protests, performance disputes, subsidized housing, and administrative law matters. He has been admitted to practice in Minnesota, the United States Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Public Contracts Law Section, and the National Contract Management Association.
Dave S. Laidig graduated in 2004 from the University of Minnesota Law School, where he gained practical experience working for attorneys, professors and taking part in several clinical programs which permitted him to prosecute cases in Hennepin County courts. As a student certified attorney, Dave has first-chair trial experience, handled arraignments and pre-trial calendars, and has successfully represented clients in administrative hearings. Prior to law school, Dave earned both bachelor and master degrees from Iowa State University in psychology, focusing on research methods and statistics. With this background, Dave administered neuropsychological evaluations in hospitals from Missouri to Minnesota, and worked with teenagers in a chemical dependency rehabilitation center.
Dave has also litigated a wide variety government contract cases, including bid protests, performance disputes, subsidized housing, and administrative law matters.
Aside from legal work, Dave remains involved in the community and local politics. He has worked on the campaigns of several State Representatives and ran for office himself in 2006. With his legal background in government contracting and his experiences advocating for his community, Dave continues to participate in groups seeking to improve the transportation system in the Southern Twin Cities Metro area. Even in endorsing his opponent, the St. Paul Pioneer Press called him "an intelligent lawyer who also would serve his district well, bringing moderation and an open mind to the Legislature." Oct. 24, 2006.
