Following law school, he was Counsel at the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, D.C. He is licensed to practice law in New Mexico and Oregon.

Andrew was a symphony musician for fourteen years prior to becoming a lawyer. During this time, he actively participated in collective bargaining as chairman of the musicians' representative committee. This experience nurtured a strong belief in unionism, and eventually inspired him to become a labor lawyer.
