Lawyer Overview

Gonzalo specialises in national and international arbitration, and he has experience in the application of Cuban, Peruvian, Hungarian, Libyan, and Egyptian law as well as the law of major European jurisdictions.

He also has acted as senior counsel in commercial arbitrations involving, among other matters, heavy plant construction, protection of foreign investment, distribution agreements, and technology transfer. He has served primarily as counsel for parties in international arbitration but has also acted as secretary to international arbitration tribunals. To date, Gonzalo has been involved in numerous arbitrations under the rules of the major international institutions, including, in particular, ICC, CRCICA, HCA, and LCIA.

In addition, he has represented important domestic and international clients as lead trial counsel in commercial arbitration and litigation matters in Spanish courts and tribunals.

Gonzalo is a frequent speaker at forums and seminars in Madrid and contributes articles to specialised legal journals. He teaches at Aliter Business School in Madrid and lectures at the Madrid Bar Association on national and international arbitration matters. He is a member of the Legal and Economic Investigation Institute, CIMA (Corte Civil y Mercantil de Arbitraje en Madrid), the Court for Arbitration in Sport, the London Court of International Arbitration, the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Gonzalo is fluent in Spanish and English.
