During his graduate studies, Dr. Cogswell researched problems of interest to the pharmaceutical industry, including the elucidation of protein structure and the development of better methods for probing the interactions between drugs and their targets. His approach was multidisciplinary, spanning the fields of synthetic organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, biophysical chemistry, molecular modeling and chemical kinetics.
