Lawyer Overview

Alex Zhang serves as coordinator for the China investments practice at Jones Day. He has extensive experience in cross-border investments and in corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital/private equity financing, Asia distressed assets transactions, corporate finance, real estate financing, international joint ventures and licensing, as well as various types of inbound and outbound investments relating to China.

Since 1990, Alex has represented American, European, and Asian multinational corporate clients and private equity/venture capital funds in addition to investment banks. Notable transactions for these clients include direct investments, equity and debt financing, acquisitions, and other corporate and commercial transactions relating to China. Alex also has represented a large number of Chinese state-owned enterprises and other PRC and Asia-based companies in their outbound investments, acquisitions, public offerings and other corporate financing, commercial transactions, and dispute resolutions in Hong Kong, the U.S., and Europe.

Alex is a frequent speaker on legal matters relating to China. He is a recipient of several outstanding professional achievement awards, including recognition by Chambers Asia 2008 as a leader in the private equity field. He is a member of the American Bar Association. Alex is a native of Beijing, and he has also lived and worked in the U.S. and Hong Kong.
