Lawyer Overview

Brian's practice is focused on domestic and international commercial disputes. He has accumulated a wealth of experience in domestic and cross-border litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.

With respect to Hong Kong and international litigation proceedings, Brian has advised major international corporate clients on a wide variety of matters, including:

• appeals to the Hong Kong Court of Appeal and the Court of Final Appeal

• breach of confidential business information, banking litigation, defamation proceedings, employment litigation, and telecom litigation

• executing worldwide Mareva injunctions against banks and multinational corporations

• international sales of goods disputes involving letters of credit and

• interim injunction relief.

Brian also has advised major corporate clients on many types of local and international arbitrations that include the Hong Kong International Arbitration Commission, the International Chamber of Commerce, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, and the China International Economic and Trade Commission.

On the noncontentious side, Brian has advised clients on a myriad of significant commercial issues such as:

• contractual risks relating to major commercial agreements

• construction-related contractual issues arising from gaming projects in Macau

• extension of the Chek Lap Kok Airport in Hong Kong

• employment issues for senior executives in Hong Kong

• petrochemical projects in Saudi Arabia and

• regulatory advice relating to telecommunications.

Prior to joining Jones Day in 2006, Brian practiced at a Magic Circle firm where his work was concentrated on construction and engineering-related disputes. Brian is a member of the Law Society of Hong Kong, the Law Society of England and Wales, the Society of Construction Law Hong Kong, and the Lighthouse Club of Hong Kong.
