Valentin Petrov concentrates on M&A and capital markets transactions involving Russia and related regulatory matters, including antitrust and strategic sector approvals.

His most recent experience includes representation of Altimo in its $23.8 billion transaction with Telenor to combine their respective holdings in VimpelCom and Kyivstar under VimpelCom Ltd., a newly formed emerging markets mobile operator, and Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company in connection with its Russian Regional Jet project, including a joint venture with Alenia Aeronatica S.p.A.

From 2002 to 2005, Valentin was in-house counsel with SeverStal, one of Russia's leading steelmakers, where he worked on the company's acquisition of a 62 percent stake in Lucchini, an Italian steel company, for €430 million.
