Lawyer Overview

Hiromitsu Miyakawa has broad experience in antitrust law, including government investigations, mergers and acquisitions, litigations, and counseling, and has served as defense counsel in several major cartel prosecutions by the Fair Trade Commission of Japan. His experience also covers general corporate matters and litigations, including intellectual property law, labor law, and joint ventures. Before joining Jones Day in 2006, Hiromitsu worked for 10 years with Kobayashi and Todo, one of the leading law firms in Japanese antitrust law. In addition, he worked as a research fellow at the American Antitrust Institute in Washington, D.C. and wrote three articles published by the institute: "First Data/Concord Merger: A Background Briefing," "Promotion of Antitrust and the Public Interest Through Use of Cy Pres Distribution," and "Competitive Issues in the Dairy Industry: The Pending DFA/NDH/Hood Transaction."
