Lawyer Overview
Jerry Kalina's practice encompasses a wide variety of commercial litigation areas, with a focus on products liability, aviation law, and insurance coverage. His experience includes the defense of complex products liability suits in state and federal courts across the country, including all aspects of discovery, pretrial motions, and trial. In addition, Jerry has prepared and argued a number of appellate briefs, regarding both products liability issues and civil rights.
In the aviation field, Jerry recently obtained summary judgment for an aviation component part manufacturer on the basis of product identification and statutes of repose. Jerry has served on several arbitration and trial teams, ranging from a pro bono representation in which he cross-examined several medical witnesses, including the county medical examiner, to serving on the trial team for a patent infringement case before the International Trade Commission, in which he took and defended depositions of corporate representatives, drafted and successfully argued dispositive pretrial motions, and drafted post-hearing briefs. Jerry maintains an active pro bono litigation practice and has been court-appointed to serve as both trial and appellate counsel to indigent parties in civil rights matters.
