Lawyer Overview

Jerry Kalina's practice encompasses a wide variety of litigation areas, including aviation law, products liability law, commercial litigation, and intellectual property law. Jerry has experience in multiple forums and jurisdictions. He has assisted in complex products liability suits in state and federal courts across the country, including all aspects of discovery, the taking and defending of depositions, and the preparation of discovery and pretrial motions. In addition, Jerry has prepared dispositive trial and appellate briefs.

Recently, Jerry coauthored a winning brief to the Third Circuit, appealing the dismissal of section 1983 claims in a pro bono representation. Jerry has also assisted in a number of aviation-related arbitrations and product liability cases, including the representation of an aviation component part manufacturer in an arbitration concerning liability for the crash of a single-engine plane in New Mexico. Jerry also served on the trial team for a patent infringement case before the International Trade Commission, in which he took and defended depositions of corporate representatives, drafted and successfully argued dispositive pretrial motions, and drafted post-hearing briefs.

Jerry gained significant litigation experience and knowledge of trial and appellate procedures while serving as a law clerk in federal trial and appellate courts. Jerry also serves as the editor for the annual newsletter of the Aeronautical and Space Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.
