Lawyer Overview
Dr. Reinhold Knoll specializes in M&A, corporate, insurance, energy, and general economic law. He has many years of extensive experience in the automobile, supplying, electrical, energy, and insurance industries.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Dr. Knoll was a partner at the law firm Beiten Burkhardt. He began his legal career in 1969 at BMW AG in Munich, where he managed their legal department from 1971 to 1974. In 1974, Dr. Knoll became a secretary general of Mahle GmbH (Stuttgart) and in 1978 a general counsel at AEG Telefunken AG (Frankfurt). In 1981, he joined Standard Elektrik Lorenz AG (Stuttgart), first as a general counsel and general manager and then as a member of the board for the finance and legal department. In 1990, he joined the law firm Dr. Mohren & Partner, where he later became a partner. In 1996, he joined Beiten Burkhardt and managed their Leipzig office for many years.
Dr. Knoll also has been a member of boards and advisory boards. He was a member and chairman of the board of various German companies of the ITT group as well as a member of the advisory boards of Deutsche Bank and the Gerling Group. For many years he was chairman of the board at Transatlantische Lebensversicherungs AG and a member of the board at CIV Lebensversicherungs AG and at Stadtwerke Leipzig GmbH. Currently, Dr. Knoll is a member of the board of Aspecta Lebensversicherung AG and the advisory board of HDI Haftpflichtverband of the German industry VAG.
