Lawyer Overview
Julia Cronin litigates complex facts and legal issues. Her practice covers all phases of civil litigation, including expert and fact discovery, motions practice, and trial. She has assisted clients with expedited proceedings for temporary restraining orders, represented clients before a three-member arbitration panel under AAA rules, and explored bilateral investment treaty claims under the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes Convention.
Julia has represented clients in complex contract disputes concerning stock purchase agreements, asset purchase agreements, and telecommunications agreements. She also has represented clients in several civil antitrust suits, assisting with the successful defense of a major pharmaceutical manufacturer accused of illegally blocking generic drug entry, and contributing to the defeat of plaintiffs' motion for class certification in multiple antitrust suits alleging price-fixing of caskets and other funeral products.
Recently, Julia represented an international government contracting firm in defense of class actions and individual actions alleging billions of dollars in damages from flooding in New Orleans following levee breaches during Hurricane Katrina. After extensive discovery and motions practice, the client successfully obtained summary judgment based on the government contractor immunity defense.
Julia currently is representing an energy company before the U.S. Court of Federal Claims in a set of disputes with the U.S. government over ownership interests in a large oil field.
Julia has an active pro bono practice that includes representing disabled veterans seeking benefit determinations in administrative hearings before all branches of the military and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
