Lawyer Overview

Prior to joining Jones Day, Gene spent two years as a deputy solicitor in the Ohio Attorney General's Office, representing state agencies in the U.S. Supreme Court, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Ohio Supreme Court. He worked on a team of lawyers that filed merits briefs in three U.S. Supreme Court cases during the October 2004 Term (Cutter v. Wilkinson, 544 U.S. 709 (2005); Wilkinson v. Austin, 545 U.S. 209 (2005); and Bradshaw v. Stumpf, 545 U.S. 175 (2005)), and he worked on several petitions for certiorari, with one resulting in summary reversal (Bradshaw v. Richey, 126 S. Ct. 602 (2005)). Gene has also briefed and argued cases before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Ohio Supreme Court.
