Lawyer Overview
Florence Coussau's practice focuses on the counseling and litigation aspects of French labor and employment law. She regularly assists U.S., British, and French multinational companies regarding hiring employees, drafting and modifying employment contracts, terminations through negotiation of settlement agreements, relations with employee representatives, organizing professional elections, secondment, and expatriation.
Florence also assists clients with dismissals related to economic conditions, restructurings, and cost-cutting strategies and performs labor law due diligence that affects the transfer of employees in merger and acquisition transactions.
Florence's experience includes representing employers in litigations filed by employees alleging wrongful termination (for personal or economic reasons) and by employee representatives/trade unions in the context of restructurings and professional elections.
Recently, she assisted a U.S. multinational company in the closing down of a plant in France that involved the implementation of a safeguard of employment plan, established a strategy in negotiating with employee representatives, and represented the client in litigations that resulted because of the closing.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2006, Florence worked as a lawyer for nearly three years in a French law firm that concentrated in labor law.
