Chris Ahern is an experienced advisor on Australian corporate law whose practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions in the technology, natural resources, and banking sectors. He has advised on numerous transactions for Fortune 500 companies in these industries.
Chris's experience in corporate law covers the full range of mergers and acquisitions, including court approved mergers by scheme of arrangement, venture and development capital, private placements, public to private transactions as well as private company mergers and acquisitions work. In particular, Chris acted for First Data Corporation on its $22 billion acquisition by KKR.
Chris also has significant experience in business restructurings, having acted for Lucent on the $2.5 billion collapse of One-Tel. In addition, his experience involves advising on numerous joint ventures (both incorporated and unincorporated) and complex alliance arrangements in the technology and natural resources sectors, and he is skilled at dealing with the complex intellectual property issues that arise in such transactions.
Chris has been named in Chambers legal directories as a leading lawyer since 2001. Prior to joining Jones Day, he was a partner for seven years at one of Australia's national law firms. He serves as Partner-in-Charge of the Sydney Office.
