Andreas Grünwald is a partner in the Berlin office of Hogan & Hartson LLP, and a member of the firm’s telecommunications, media and entertainment practice group. His practice focuses on regulatory and competition matters in the communications industries, including regulatory advise on TME transactions.

Recently, Andreas Grünwald was involved in the EU merger control proceedings in the NewsCorp / Premiere case, he handled the market 18 proceedings before the Federal Network Agency as well as various merger control filings for Orion Cable (including the sale of 1.2 cable homes to Kabel Deutschland), and he serves as counsel to ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG with regard to the ongoing litigation against the decisions by the media ownership authority (KEK) and the German Federal Cartel Office to block the proposed Axel Springer / ProSiebenSat.1 merger.

Andreas Grünwald studied law at the universities of Würzburg and Münster, and was a visiting scholar at the Communications Media Center at New York Law School and an international fellow with the Information Society Project at Yale Law School. Formerly a research fellow with Prof. Dr. Bernd Holznagel at the Institute for Information, Telecommunications and Media Law (ITM) at the University of Münster, Andreas has published numerous books and articles on media law and competition matters, with a particular focus on media ownership and digitalization matters.

Andreas Grünwald has authored numerous publications on communications law, is a founding editor of the International Journal of Communications Law and Policy (IJCLP), and is the editor of the TKR Newsletter list serve. Selected publications include:
