Lawyer Overview

Shondella represents management in a broad range of litigation matters, including lawsuits involving Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Family and Medical Leave Act. She also defends employers in complex wage and hour class actions. Shondella frequently represents public and private sector employers before administrative agencies and in alternative dispute resolution proceedings, such as arbitrations and mediations. Her cases have included claims of wage and hour violations, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, failure to accommodate, hostile work environment, fraud, and emotional distress. Shondella also handles traditional labor law matters, including unfair labor practice charge investigations, grievance and arbitration proceedings, and hearings before the Public Employment Relations Board and the National Labor Relations Board.

In addition to her active litigation practice, Shondella advises employers on various topics including the Fair Employment and Housing Act, the California Family Rights Act, the ADA, the FMLA, internal investigations of harassment and discrimination complaints, noncompete issues, reductions in force, and individual employee disciplinary actions and terminations. Shondella also trains mid and upper level managers and human resource professionals and regularly reviews and drafts employment policies, handbooks, and employment agreements.

Prior to attending law school, Shondella gained extensive experience in retail management as an executive for a national retail corporation.
