Lawyer Overview

Jody Erdfarb is an associate in Wiggin and Dana’s Health Care Department.

Jody’s practice involves advising a wide range of healthcare providers, including hospitals, academic medical centers, long term care providers, nursing homes, continuing care retirement communities, assisted living facilities, home health care agencies, and individual practitioners on a broad range of issues including compliance, fraud and abuse, HIPAA, patient care, regulatory and corporate matters. As a member of the research regulation and compliance practice group, Jody also assists research organizations and research sponsors with regulatory matters.

Her regulatory experience involves licensure, certificate of need, informal dispute resolution with the Connecticut Department of Health, and Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement. Jody’s compliance experience involves developing and evaluating corporate compliance programs, HIPAA policies, and managing compliance issues, including conducting internal investigations and disclosures and negotiations with government authorities.

Jody is a member of the American Health Lawyer’s Association, the Connecticut Health Lawyer’s Association, and the American Bar Association Health Law section. She co-authored, “To Revise or Not to Revise, That is the Question: CMS’s Vacillation on the Medicare Clinical Trial Policy,” Health Law 360, January 11, 2008 and "Government Cracks Down On 'Exclusion Billing'", Connecticut Law Tribune, May 11, 2009, Vol. 35, No. 19.

Jody serves on the Wiggin and Dana Associate Professional Development Committee.

Jody received her J.D. with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law where she was an Associate Editor of the Connecticut Journal of International Law, a Dean's Scholar as well as the recipient of several CALI awards. Jody also won first place in the school's annual Hastie Moot Court Competition for best brief.
