Lawyer Overview

Erick I. Diaz is an associate in the Labor and Employment Department and a member of Wiggin and Dana's Diversity and Hiring Committees.

Erick's practice includes providing employment counseling to clients, and assisting Labor and Employment Department partners in matters regarding collective bargaining agreement negotiations, labor grievances, labor arbitrations, and employment litigation. Erick also assists in representing employers in administrative matters at various state agencies, such as the Connecticut Department of Labor. Erick has counseled clients on employee hiring practices, employee termination, and sexual harassment investigations. He has also assisted employers in drafting employment agreements, employee handbooks, confidentiality and non-compete agreements, whistleblower, substance abuse, vacation, and volunteer policies.

Erick is a native Spanish speaker. He has served as a member of the Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association's Board of Directors, where he is currently the Director of Communications. In addition, Erick is a member of the Lawyers' Collaborative for Diversity Associates Advisory Committee.

Prior to joining the firm, Erick served in the U.S. Army as an Armor Officer, obtaining the rank of Captain. He also worked in marketing as an Assistant Brand Manager for a Fortune 100 Company.

Erick earned a B.A. in Political Science from Yale University and his J.D. from Boston University School of Law, where he was the President of the Latin American Law Student Association.
