Practice

Ms. Austern has experience with a variety of corporate and criminal litigation issues. She has worked on matters involving the applicability of Political Question Doctrine to claims arising under the Alien Tort Claims Act, international reinsurance arbitration and New York state law regarding credit card surcharges. As an intern in the Violent Criminal Enterprise and Terrorism Unit of the United State's Attorney’s office for the Eastern District of New York, Ms. Austern assisted with a multi-defendant RICO, murder and narcotics case, researched and wrote internal prosecution memoranda and participated in proffer sessions of defendants and cooperators, as well as preparatory sessions with witnesses, FBI agents and experts. 

Prior to attending law school, Ms. Austern was an investigative analyst for the Frauds Bureau of the New York County District Attorney's Office, where she aided in all aspects of white-collar crime investigations and prosecutions. During her undergraduate studies, Ms. Austern worked as a litigation legal assistant in the corporate sector and was a legislative intern for the Office of Legislative Affairs of the United States Department of Justice.
