Highlights

Recent Cases

  • A successful appeal on behalf of a prominent executive who had been convicted of federal conspiracy, internal controls, mail fraud, and money laundering charges. WilmerHale, which did not represent the executive at trial, successfully argued that all convictions should be reversed.
  • A successful defense, in US District Court, of the Secretary of the Interior's decision to accept land into trust on behalf of an Indian Tribe. WilmerHale, which represents the Tribe as Intervenor, has also been retained to defend the appeal.
  • A major ongoing investigation of a regulated institution. WilmerHale represents the institution in proceedings before multiple US Attorney's Offices and several federal agencies.

Pro Bono

Mr. Ahn shares the firm's commitment to pro bono work. His recent pro bono work includes:

  • In the US Supreme Court, an amicus brief supporting the successful appeal of a prisoner who had been sentenced to death. WilmerHale represented a not-for-profit organization supporting the petitioner.
  • In the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, an appeal from the Board of Immigration Appeals. WilmerHale was appointed by the court to serve as amicus counsel supporting the petitioner, who is seeking asylum in the United States.
  • In the US District Court for the District of Columbia, a civil action against the United States. WilmerHale was appointed to represent the plaintiff, whose claims are based on the injuries and death of a prisoner who died in federal custody.
