Lawyer Overview

Krista Barnes focuses her practice on providing legal services to the healthcare industry, particularly in the realm of Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement litigation and coverage issues. She has litigation experience at both agency and federal court levels, with respect to a variety of Medicare reimbursement issues including DSH, IME and GME, capital cost reimbursement, and issues facing rural providers. Ms. Barnes has also assisted providers in a number of claims audits and appeals of claims denials.

In the compliance realm, Ms. Barnes has assisted providers in complying with Corporate Integrity Agreements, as well as with the development of research and sponsored programs compliance policies and procedures. Ms. Barnes also has experience with issues that arise with respect to providers’ relationships with insurers and managed care organizations, state regulation of health care professionals and providers, and the formation of healthcare entities.

Ms. Barnes is a member of the Houston Bar Associations and the American Health Lawyer Association.
