Law Firm Overview

Russell ("Russ") Schenewerk is a private practice attorney in Branson, Missouri and concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate (including contracts, construction defect litigation and landlord/tenant law) and collections, business/commercial litigation and commercial/industrial property tax appeals.  His undergraduate degree is a dual B.A. from Central Missouri State University in both Political Science and Criminal Justice Administration and he earned his Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University School of Law.

Before attending law school, Mr. Schenewerk was a commercial real estate appraiser for the Missouri State Tax Commission and worked at one time or another in at least 85 of the 114 counties in Missouri.  He began his legal career with Nodiff and Ellis, a St. Louis firm widely known for its expertise in condominium and community association law.  He is licensed in Missouri and the United States District Courts in both the Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri.  Mr. Schenewerk has recently sharpened his trial skills by successfully completing the Missouri Bar Trial Institute.

Russ is fluent in Spanish and the firm services a growing hispanic clientele. Mr. Schenewerk has also performed a fair amount of pro bono representation of indigent clients, in an attempt to help lighten the load of the Missouri Public Defender's Office.

His reported decisions include Crawford v. Strahan, State Tax Commission of Missouri (2003) and Twelve Oaks Motor Inn, Inc. v. Strahan, State Tax Commission of Missouri (2005).  Other recent notable judgments and verdicts in Missouri circuit courts include Pennell v. City of Branson (Christian County, 2007); Teall, et ux. v. Dodson (Stone County, 2007); Metro Design & Construction, Inc. v. Lakeshore Resort (Taney County 2005); and Slama, et ux. v. Martin Homes (Stone County, 2004).

Russ is a member of the Taney County Bar Association, the Missouri Bar and the American Bar Association and practices predominantly in southern Missouri.

The firm is proud to announce the addition of associate attorney Karl A. Finkenbinder.  Karl is a native of Clearwater, Kansas and received his undergraduate degree from Southern Nazarene University in Oklahoma (where he was also a very talented member of its track and field team that competed and placed nationally).

Karl earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.  He is also a licensed Missouri Realtor and is currently serving his first term as the treasurer for the Taney County Bar Association.  Mr. Finkenbinder practices primarily in the areas of civil liigation and real estate law.

Paralegal Cindy Combs has earned the prestigious PLS designation.  Together with Office Administrator/paralegal Laina Laidlaw, the pair have a combined experience of 35 years on the paralegal field.  Ms. Combs is also currently a member of the Hollister, Missouri School Board and now serves as treasurer for NALS, a national paralegal educational organization.  She also lectures at area paralegal training courses.
