Lawyer Overview

James Mink works on a broad range of complex commercial litigation matters, including in the areas of antitrust, contractual disputes, employment class actions, insurance coverage disputes, and white-collar criminal defense. He has extensive experience in resolving and litigating complex insurance recovery matters, representing a diverse range of corporate and individual policyholders with respect to third-party liability claims, directors and officers liability issues, and first-party property and business interruption losses.  He has represented clients in federal and state courts, at the trial and appellate levels.

James is also very involved in the legal community, serving as vice chair of the insurance coverage section of the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) and teaching appellate advocacy and legal research and writing at Golden Gate University School of Law. James was the BASF Barrister of the Year for 2006, serves on the BASF executive committee, and is the 2009 president of BASF's Barristers Club. He also serves on the statewide Resolutions Committee of the Conference of Delegates of California Bar Associations, which provides analysis and advice on proposed federal and state legislation. James is a member of the State Bar of California.

At the start of his career, James served as a public defender, where he tried 20 cases to jury verdict and argued a writ before the California Court of Appeal.  Prior to law school, he worked as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer, writing training and curriculum materials for an after-school tutoring program in San Francisco's Western Addition.
