Ms. Touchton is a former federal public defender and brings great experience to the firm in both criminal law and civil litigation. Ms. Touchton has devoted much of her career to developing an expertise in federal criminal defense. Ms. Touchton was most recently a member of the Federal Public Defender's Office in the Central District of California, where she was the lead attorney on numerous capital habeas cases. An experienced courtroom lawyer, Ms. Touchton represented defendants at all stages of federal criminal proceedings, from arraignment through trial. Ms. Touchton also represented petitioners at habeas evidentiary hearings, and honed her skills arguing in the Ninth Circuit and the California Court of Appeal. Prior to her tenure with the Federal Public Defender's Office, Ms. Touchton worked at the top litigation boutique of Bird, Marella, Boxer, Wolpert, Nessim, Drooks & Lincenberg, assisting in the representation of federal white collar clients both pre indictment and post indictment. Ms. Touchton has also represented clients in a variety of state criminal matters, including Driving Under the Influence cases and probation-related matters.

In addition to her extensive criminal experience, Ms. Touchton has experience with a large variety of civil litigation matters. She has experience in civil discovery, motion practice and trial preparation. Her knowledge of civil matters and her understanding of the litigation processes was greatly enhanced by her experience as a law clerk for the Honorable Dean D. Pregerson. Ms. Touchton is admitted to practice in both the Central District and the Ninth Circuit and a member of the Federal Bar Association.

In 2001, Ms. Touchton graduated in the top of her class from Boalt Hall, the law school of the University of California at Berkeley, and was admitted to the Order of the Coif. She received the American Jurisprudence and Prosser Awards for top scores in various courses as well as the Moot Court Oralist Award. Her Bachelor's degree is from Cornell University, from which she graduated cum laude in 1998.
