Law Firm Overview

The Key Firm was founded in 2003 by Stephen C. Key. Prior to The Key Firm, Stephen was one of two founding partners of what became the preeminent labor & employment boutique firm in Texas, Karger Key Barnes & Springer. After serving as managing partner of that firm for 6 years, during which time the firm grew from 3 to 18 lawyers, Stephen realized that his time was increasingly occupied by the business and management of the firm rather than his true passion: building strong client relationships and championing the rights of small and medium size employers. He then made the difficult decision to resign as managing partner and launch The Key Firm.

At The Key Firm, we are committed to keeping client needs as our number one priority in every circumstance. To that end, it is our goal to provide quality, creative solutions in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. We keep our overhead low and our operation lean in order to maintain flexibility and freedom in meeting the needs of our clients without ever having to be concerned for the business of the firm.

It is our desire to maintain quality, lasting relationships with a select number of clients. The size of our firm is a distant second to the quality of our client relationships. Our goal is to become an integral part of our client’s organization and to partner together in our shared, future success. To that end, our client list is very much static. We add only a handful of new clients each year, but once those relationships are established, they almost never end.
