Lawyer Overview

Matthew Berliner's practice focuses on civil litigation and intellectual property matters. He provides businesses with advice and counseling regarding their trademarks, patents, and other intellectual property rights as well as representing companies in general commercial and business litigation, real estate disputes, and class action litigation. Matthew has successfully defended clients in class action lawsuits for fraud and unfair competition — receiving judgments in favor of the defendants prior to class certification. Matthew also second-chaired a two-week trial for a plaintiff seeking specific performance of a land sale contract in Kern County Superior Court. After two weeks of trial the parties settled with Matthew's client obtaining very favorable terms.

Matthew's undergraduate and graduate schooling and research focused on the fields of material science, semiconductors, nanotechnology, crystallography, and related subjects.

Matthew coauthored the paper, "Quasielastic Neutron Scattering Study of the Effect of Water to Cement Ratio on the Hydration Kinetics of Tricalcium Silicate," Cement and Concrete Research 28, 231-243 (1998). He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) and the American Bar Association.
