Lawyer Overview

Marcus Lawrence is a Principal of Thorn | Lawrence, P.L. He practices in several areas including civil appeals, business and commercial litigation, construction law, casualty defense, military law, premises liability, product liability and estate planning. In his commercial practice, Marcus has litigated a variety of matters such as construction warranty and defect claims, lien law issues, business acquisition contract disputes, state and federal consumer protection statute violation claims and trademark infringement allegations. He has also handled commercial disputes involving non-compete agreements, alleged patent infringement, unauthorized commercial solicitations and collections. His product liability experience has included representation of both manufacturers and distributors of automobiles, power tools and ladders. Marcus has also successfully defended Fortune 500 companies in premises liability, insurance coverage, transportation and employment law matters. In addition, Marcus frequently advises individual clients on estate planning matters to include preparation of trusts, wills, living wills and powers of attorney.

Marcus received his B.A. from Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama, and his J.D. from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he was a recipient of the Reynolda Law Faculty Scholarship. After graduation from law school, he entered the United States Navy Judge Advocate General's Corp and attended the Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island. After leaving active duty military service, Marcus worked for a regional defense litigation firm prior to forming Thorn | Lawrence, P.L.

Marcus is a member of the Florida and Alabama bars and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, the Northern District of Alabama, the U.S. Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit, and U.S. Supreme Court.
