Practice

Ms. Bektas concentrates her practice in the biotechnology, biomedical and pharmaceutical fields. She has extensive experience structuring and negotiating technology licensing transactions, sponsored research and collaboration agreements, and strategic partnerships. Her clients include university/nonprofit entities, start-up biotechnology companies, midsize private and public companies and large pharmaceutical companies.

Ms. Bektas previously worked as Senior Counsel at Millennium Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where she was responsible for structuring, negotiating and closing major licensing and technology transactions. While at Millennium, she served as the lead in-house attorney for the structuring of Millennium's restated strategic partnership with Bayer HealthCare AG. In addition, Ms. Bektas supported Millennium's alliance management activities with its numerous pharmaceutical company partners, and provided legal guidance to the strategic business team managing Millennium's inflammation franchise.

Professional Activities

Ms. Bektas is a member of the Licensing Executives Society and a co-chair of its Boston chapter. She is also a member of the Boston Patent Law Association and the American Bar Association.
