Lawyer Overview
Lynne Baum engages in complex commercial litigation. Her litigation practice includes experience in complex disputes involving commercial agreements, securities, insurance coverage, class actions, contracts, and corporate governance in state and federal courts at both the trial level and appellate level.
Lynne litigated and argued one of the first cases to interpret the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Zadvydas v. Davis, and won her client’s release from indefinite detention. The extremely significant ruling has become an important touchstone in this developing area of the law and a precedent relied upon by many courts. The case was featured on the front page of the National Law Journal and on National Public Radio.
Lynne has authored, in collaboration with the American Bar Association’s Commission on Immigration and others, a legal guide for immigration detainees that has been distributed to hundreds of detainees across the country. This guide has served as a critical reference tool for practitioners assisting this vulnerable population.
Prior to joining Hogan & Hartson, Lynne clerked for the Honorable Jaime Pieras Jr. of the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.
