Christian von Hammerstein provides regulatory and policy advice to clients, which include both German and international companies and governmental agencies. His practice involves representing clients from the energy sector on regulatory and antitrust issues, as well as in national and trans-border transactions.

Christian has particular experience in supporting new entrants in the energy market with regard to third party access to the gas and power grids, including litigation and the negotiation of domestic and international supply and trade agreements. He advises telecommunication operators on regulatory issues and in transactions such as national roaming, sharing of third generation infrastructure, access to lines and local loop, interconnection, licensing, and international accounting rates. He frequently publishes articles on administrative, telecommunications, and energy law and is a frequent speaker on such topics in national and international conferences.

Christian has been involved in infrastructure projects including waste disposal facilities, office buildings, and sport stadiums. He advises cities, municipalities, and private investors on the financial and regulatory aspects of such infrastructure projects, including zoning and planning, environmental, procurement, and state aid law. He also has extensive experience in expropriation and official liability proceedings. He has been involved in legislative hearings on media and privatization issues and supported clients in drafting legislation.
